Canada emissions by province
Here we look at the way emissions have changed across the country from 1990 to 2008.
Different regions of the country contribute different amounts to the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions "pie".
During this period, the pie got bigger. Canada's absolute GHG emissions increased by 24%.
Proportionate contribution
The chart below shows the proportionate contribution from different regions to Canada's GHG emissions "pie". (1)
- Alberta's contribution became a 4% larger slice of Canada's GHG emissions "pie"
- Saskatchewan's slice got 3% larger
- Ontario's slice got 4% smaller
- Quebec's slice got 3% smaller
