Manitoba's stationary energy sources
Stationary sources include electricity generation, energy used in the oil and gas industry, in the manufacturing and construction industry, and for residential and commercial heating.
In 2005, stationary sources account for about 23% of Manitoba's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (1). The chart below shows how these emissions have changed from 1990 to 2005.
Between 1990 and 2005, we have seen the following changes:
- 3% decrease in overall Stationary Combustion
- 31% decrease in Residential (That's right - it decreased)
- 30% increase in Manufacturing industries
- 4% increase in Commercial & industrial
