Anne Lindsey

Anne Lindsey, M.A., has been the Executive Director of the Manitoba Eco-Network (MEN) since 1989, overseeing its development into a thriving hub for environmental inquiry and action. The Network is an umbrella for more than 30 environmental non-governmental organizations, and is affiliated with the Canadian Environmental Network and regional networks across the country.

MEN undertakes educational projects on a variety of issues, the most recent of which is hosting Climate Change Connection at the Eco-Centre in downtown Winnipeg. Others include workshops on environmental assessment, and on the links between the environment and human health; hosting annual conferences on organic agriculture; publishing the first Guide to Organic Foods in Manitoba; and a project to educate Winnipeggers about the benefits and logistics of pesticide-free lawn care. The Eco-Network is home to the Alice Chambers Memorial Library, and publisher of Manitoba's primary environmental news-magazine, Eco-Journal. As well, it provides referral and information services to the general public.

Anne has also served as an active volunteer on environmental issues since the early 1980s. Groups she has helped to create, or worked with, include Concerned Citizens of Manitoba (nuclear issues), Time to Respect Earth's Ecosystems (forestry issues), Campaign for Pesticide Reduction! Winnipeg (pesticides), and the Organic Food Council of Manitoba (organic farming). She contributes to the Climate Change Connection Steering Committee a broad knowledge of the environmental NGO community in Canada and Manitoba and a comprehensive understanding of the key environmental issues of our day, including climate change. She also brings long experience in organizing and communications.
