ecoEnergy Retrofit

The federal government’s ecoEnergy Retrofit program provides grants to homeowners for energy efficiency upgrades to existing homes.

The program involves a pre-retrofit evaluation with a licensed Natural Resources Canada advisor, voluntary retrofits, and then a post-retrofit evaluation. The grant is based on improvements made and their impact on energy efficiency.

Grants are expected on average to top $1000 with a maximum grant of $5000. The average grant is expected to be linked to cuts in energy use of 30 percent, equalling four tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

The program was launched April 1, 2007.
