Of Manitoba’s agricultural emissions in 2004, 38 percent came from enteric fermentation and 15 percent from manure management.

Carrying such a heavy load of Manitoba’s greenhouse gas emissions may seem overwhelming for the livestock sector, but there is good news. There are practical on-farm measures that reduce these emissions. And most are simply good management practices that will also optimize livestock production and decrease input costs.
